Earlier this past winter as Spring was trying to make its presence known to Northern Minnesota and Mother Nature was trying with all her might to bring it to fruition. My mom ended up in the nursing home to heal after a fall and a broken pelvis. I took her dog to my house to care for him and we got into a routine every morning and evening to go for a walk.

It was still cold enough that the snow was crunching under our feet, and I started noticing that I was feeling angry about this, and around here no one was immune to the effects of the long bitterly cold winter, people were cranky and our bodies were achy from the cold and all we wanted was for the snow to melt and spring to make its appearance. The sooner the better as far as we were all concerned!

So back to mine and Flash’s walks, I often looked at the evergreens and my neighborhood has lots of them. They are a blessing in the winter as a wind block and in the summer they cast very long cool shadows to help keep the heat of the day at bay. I love them they are majestic in the winter with their royal cloak of freshly fallen snow draping their branches. That’s one of the things I missed the most when I lived away from Minnesota. As the day begins to warm up the branches you can hear the drip drip of the snow melting. It was soothing to my soul as Flash and I walked the neighborhood and soon I realized that the negative feeling I had with the snow crunching underfoot was smoothed over by the trees, who would “talk” when their branches were heavy with fresh snow. I stopped to listen and realized that if I took some freshly fallen snow and melted it, then added some evergreen to the water it made  I might be able to make a spray to help clear the negativity in a room /space or a person’s Aura field.

So I mulled it over in my mind on our walks and let the idea come to full bloom, but the snow was melting pretty fast and what was a beautiful idea was getting pushed to the back burner, because I knew I needed to use fresh snow.  Hold on, this is Minnesota for heaven’s sake and I have seen snowfall on the 4th of July! Mother Nature came through with not one but two more good snowfalls and I seized the opportunity to fill a couple of buckets and brought them in to melt at room temperature (it took three days) I filtered the water to get pine needles out of it and such. Put in my evergreens which I harvested with prayers to the four directions and an offering of tobacco to give thanks. Mixed in a lot of love and let it sit. I harvested the snow on the new moon and bottled it up on the energy of the full moon. Evergreen Shadows is truly magical!

Blossom Spirits are another name for flower essence remedies. Based on the work of  Dr. Edward Bach, who in the 1920’s and 1930’s, discovered the healing power of flowers. He found that by using the principle laws of Homeopathy, he realized flowers have an amazing power to help heal emotions!

Using a process called solarization, Dr. Bach and his assistant Nora Weeks would pick fresh blooms in the early morning and place them in a glass bowl of spring water. Then let these blossoms sit out in the sun for several hours. The essence or life force of these flowers was transferred to the water, and this was then the mother tincture which would be mixed with brandy (as a preservative) and bottled in a diluted state.

Dr. Bach tested every single flower on himself and noted what differences he felt in his own body. By the time he passed away in 1938, he had discovered the uses of 38 different flowers.

His Influence

Today his work is still carried on at his original country laboratory in England and flowers are still harvested from the same region as Dr. Bach and Nora Weeks picked their original flowers. Even though the production aspect was sold due to the high demand, all of the formulas are made in the same way.

The essences that I use today come from the United States and the work has expanded on what Dr. Bach discovered over 80 years ago, there are many more flowers to work with which gives me the ability to really fine tune a blend for someone. I am also able to make a broader spectrum blend to help more people, I think you will find one to suit your needs but if not, I am happy to do a custom blend for you.
